Services

Timber drying.

About the service

Controlled moisture reduction.

We offer professional timber drying, delivering consistent quality and precise moisture control for further processing or construction.

SIA "VILSA" has been drying timber since 2015, building up hands-on experience across a range of wood species. We specialise in softwood drying (pine, spruce), where precise schedule control is essential to reduce deformation and cracking risks.

Our capacity

Three modern BaltBrand kilns.

We operate 3 modern drying kilns from Latvian manufacturer "BaltBrand", delivering a fully automated drying process.

Automation lets us:

  • precisely control temperature and moisture throughout the cycle
  • reduce human error
  • guarantee consistently high and predictable drying quality
Cycle

The drying process and timings.

A full timber drying cycle down to ~18% moisture usually takes 5-10 days.

Exact drying time is set case by case, since it depends on several factors:

  • wood structure and density
  • material thickness
  • initial moisture content
  • other technical parameters

How it works

How does timber drying work?

Timber drying is an essential step in wood processing that reduces moisture content in the wood and gives it the stability required for further use.

Compared with natural seasoning, kiln drying reaches the required moisture level much faster and under controlled conditions.

The drying process runs in automatic mode:

  • a hot air flow evaporates moisture out of the wood
  • temperature and humidity are electronically controlled
  • air circulation is provided by fans
  • heat is delivered by heat exchangers
  • air exchange runs through vent flaps
  • a steam-injection system regulates humidity
